Nearly a century ago, rural communities came together to connect to the electric grid by forming cooperatives. Today we face a new challenge in powering rural communities. With the shift of generation from costly fossil fuel to lower cost more reliable renewable power directly from solar, wind, and water, members have a choice about how to increase the value of our investment.

FMEC exists for members and friends of electric cooperatives to engage our collective power.  We believe in democratic member direction and transparency,
to counter private monopoly influence, in favor of cooperative principles of service to members.

Join as a member of FMEC to access news and conversation about electric co-ops and our part in the energy transition today.

Our FMEC publications posted by community members address concerns and ideas about electric cooperatives.  We believe that democratic member direction and engagement will best represent the interest of membership, over centralized fossil fuel monopolies.

Your voice and values are an integral part of a cooperative process to shape our energy future.  Sign up below to connect to FMEC for notices and actions in your electric cooperative.
FMEC provides access to a community of people working together to impact a new energy economy built on member-owned local generation.
